Folie A Deux (N.T.) is a visual artist working with storytelling and world-building. She mainly uses ink, pen, charcoal, and pencil to create small-scale, intimate drawings and books. She is interested in the flawed human gesture, that which is made out of necessity. Her work usually begins with writing or language, which is then used to create allegories.
Her approach is based on a balance between the dark and the tragic-comic, drawing inspiration from comic and animation aesthetics as a counterforce to existential dread.
Her work is focused on self-questioning and philosophical concerns. Given the problem of unavoidable subjectivity and the limitations of the human mind, she works with themes of loneliness and despair as shared human elements that unify us in a precise yet subtle way. Every work is strongly personal, leading to a form of confession or self-portraiture. She uses this approach, as well as the power of stories, as a tool that relies on the belief that her own subjective experience is the only reliable path to a concrete truth.
