Gilles Schneider (b. 1995) is an architect and artist whose practice treats architecture as a playground. Working with Event Scores, performances, and multiples, he creates situations that invite listening, smelling, and tasting as ways of encountering the built environment.

His work investigates architecture through play and sensory experimentation. By approaching buildings and materials as ingredients — fermenting, baking or cooking them — he explores what our surroundings consist of and how we might build deeper relationships with the places we call home. Rather than looking at architecture, his work asks how it sounds, smells, and tastes.

Humour and seriousness coexist in his practice, opening up space to question habits of perception and the quiet rules that shape everyday life. It serves as an accessible entry point into topics that can be heavy and may sound absurd.

Land Art, Fluxus and Eat Art are movements that keep inspiring Gilles in creating installations, gadgets and recipes that seek for change, spark joy and challenge perception.

He holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Vienna University of Technology in Austria and a Master’s degree in Design (interior architecture and furniture design) from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in Norway.
