Torild Stray

Torild Stray has exhibited her work in New York and Norway since the early 1990s, gaining critical acclaim and an international following. After extensive travels in Southeast Asia, she studied Art History at The University of Bergen, Strykejernet Art School in Oslo, The Nordic School of Art in Finland, and The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture. Stray has received several awards, including The New York Times Scholarship. She was also an artist in residence at The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, where she painted NYC from the 85th floor of the WTC. Stray currently resides and works in Bergen, where she runs an active painting studio, teaches Drawing at KODE Museum, and offers Drawing classes with Bergen Akt og Kroki. She will show new paintings at Høyersten Contemporary in Spring 2025 and collaborate on exhibitions at Isotop Project Space this Spring.
